The 19th ESBRA Congress - Graz, Austria

Members of the team at the 19th ESBRA (European Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism Conference), held in Graz, Austria, from 1 to 3 September.

Anne Lise PITEL (University of Caen Normandie, INSERM, France) was chair of a symposium Korsakoff on an INTEGRATIVE APPROACH TO KORSAKOFF’S SYNDROME: AN OLD STORY REVISITED. The goal of this symposium was to offer a multidisciplinary and integrative approach to Korsakoff’s syndrome. Psychological, cognitive, sleep, neuroimaging and genetic data have been presented by four women at different stages of their career. The specificity of Korsakoff’s syndrome compared with AUD and other major neurocognitive disorders have been highlighted, as well as the vulnerability factors to develop this severe, persistent and debilitating memory disease.

Anne-Lise PITEL also co-chaired two other symposiums with:

• Philippe De Timary (Catholic University of Louvain, Belgique) about brain inflammation (“CONTRIBUTION OF INFLAMMATORY MECHANISMS TO ALCOHOL-RELATED BRAIN ABNORMALITIES: A TRANSLATIONAL APPROACH”).

In the latter, Anne-Lise PITEL presented on the behalf of Louise LEBEDEL (University Hospital, Caen, France).
